Live in care lifestyle companions

There are often misconceptions about what is live in care and how this differs from other care services.  It is important that you have a good understanding so you can make a balanced and informed decision for a loved one.

One to One Care & Companionship

Our live in care services are fundamentally different from residential or nursing homes.  Your loved one receives one to one care and companionship in their own home and this cannot be replicated in any other care environment.  In addition, the health benefits your loved one receives from having someone to talk and share life with is unrivalled – refer to Companionship vs Loneliness for further information.

Even visiting care within the home can often be task and time oriented so this can result in a rigid care service.  Your loved ones need the flexibility within their routines and changing health needs to live a healthy life at home.  Our Lifestyle Companions provide this one to one care with attention to detail and dignity.  Therefore your loved ones receive the best possible care through companionship & friendship.

Care Fees

Our live in care services are unique to your loved ones needs so the actual costs will be determined by the level of care they require.  The initial cost will be approx. £900-£995 per week for a full live in care service.  These costs cover the Lifestyle Companions salary and the agency introductory fee.

Once our Lifestyle Companion completes 12 weeks of live in care, the weekly costs will reduce to around £700.  These ongoing care costs are highly competitive in the industry in respect of the quality of care and staffing.

  • Wonderful support they provided to my wife’s mother. The live in care team provided such a high standard of care to my wife’s mother who was living with severe Dementia so she could stay living in her own home.  No matter how challenging the situation, Leigh was able to source the right calibre of staff who built up such caring relationships which provided my wife and I such peace of mind that she was safe.  My wife’s mother was able to pass away in the comfort and safety of her own home and this would not have been possible without their support.

  • McDonald Homecare provided a Live in carer after my knee surgery. The Lifestyle Companion stayed 4 weeks, during which time I was overwhelmed with her nursing knowledge and attention to detail. She was meticulous with my pain relief medication and supported with various exercises throughout the day which made an enormous difference in my speedy recovery. It was most reassuring that someone was always there during critical times of my recovery, both day and night for reassurance.

  • We want to pass on our thanks to McDonald Homecare for providing a Lifestyle Companion to our father after his operation.  The agency was professional throughout and was able to find a suitable carer in such a short space of time.

It has been remarkable the way our father has recovered and this would not have been possible if he could not return home and have someone with him to provide rehabilitation support and encouragement.
