Introductory Agency FAQ

By Leigh McDonald

What Is And Introductory Agency?

McDonald Homecare is an introductory agency, so rather than manage care on an ongoing basis, we’re here to help match and introduce you to a self-employed care professional.

You can think if it like employing a cleaner or plumber privately; you have direct relationship with them and pay them for the work completed, rather than a third-party.

Three Key Points

1 — Introductory care means you are more involved in the management of care on a day-today basis. Many people prefer the choice and control this provides.

2 — Carers are fully background checked and vetted to the standards required by CQC.

3 — An introductory service can save you 30% or more on live-in care costs.

How it works.

Rather than employ the carers we work with, we find you a self-employed carer from our talent pool and network, most of whom we have known for many years. All the live-in self-employed carers from McDonald Homecare are contracted directly with your family. We will walk you through all the arrangements and get this set up for you.

The experienced care professionals introduced by McDonald Homecare care manage the day-to-day care of the care recipients. This happens alongside family members or primary contacts, other care professionals and sometimes local councils. This includes managing the personal care, risk assessments, continuation of care assessments and anything else required to make sure the recipient is safe, happy and comfortable in the place they’re happiest – their own home.

As an Introductory Agency, McDonald Homecare does not have an “ongoing role in the direction or control of the service provided”. However, in terms of helping you manage your care, we go above and beyond what many other Introductory Agencies offer to make sure relationships work well and things are settled.

We do everything we can to make managing your family’s care needs as stress-free as possible, as well as providing you with dedicated support and advice as required.

Inconsistency in care delivery (different faces coming through the door) can be frustrating for clients, especially for those suffering from mental health issues or dementia. Introductory Agency's facilitate a direct match between clients and carers, that lead to a trusted relationship with better continuity of care. It means family can be more involved right from the outset, selecting the right carer and then working collaboratively to manage the care.
